As a student, I would like to view the course and section data from past semesters so I can be a historian or something
One feature used by the old YACS that we have not implemented is the ability to choose courses between different semesters. Our database doesn't have any concept of different semesters; all courses are implicitly assumed to be in the same "upcoming" semester.
We should discuss how much need there is for implementing something like this and if it would be worth it to do so.
@Bad-Science, did anyone specifically request this? I seem to remember getting one email requesting this as a feature but if that actually happened I can't remember why the person wanted it.
One or two people have requested it, but I've added it as a reach goal for now because my motivation for this issue is a little more personal, and I am more interested in how we could leverage this data.

Has there been any progress on this feature? This would be useful for concurrent scheduling if registration periods for two semesters overlap. As the trend of having more compressed academic semesters expands to more schools, there would be a greater need to view two semesters concurrently.
Hi @cjmaria ! Thanks for your comment. We are aware that this is increasingly becoming a need for the RPI student body and we've been preparing to launch this as part of 0.12, our first major release in a while. We are currently building the UI for this, and you can track the progress here #394

For many upper-level courses, the timing and professor are often the same as the previous years (i.e. F18 and F19 can have identical section schedules for a class). This can help users plan a 4-year plan (roughly), or prep for the next semester before schedules are out for that semester.
