[Feature Request] Add YACReader Library Client to Desktop Application

Open Chirishman opened this issue 3 years ago • 7 comments

I run a YACReader Library server on my home network, which is great if I want to read on my phone but unfortunately is no help if I want to read on my Surface tablet.

It would be incredibly helpful if you could add either a mode to the desktop YACReader app that lets it act like a port of the mobile apps do so that it can browse, read, and download comics from the YACReader Library server instance that I'm already running.

You can always mount locally (in your surface tablet) the folder where you have your comics stored and use YACReaderLibrary like normal. As long as your network speed is half decent it should work fine.

That doesn't help me if I want to walk out of my house and go on vacation with my tablet though.

Not an idea solution, but why not use RDP on the tablet if you're out and about?

Would love to see this too, RDP isn't a solution, and doesn't help when offline. Manually copying locally also defeats the point of the server.

uh... either I'm misunderstanding things, or you're contradicting yourself? How are you going to access the library when offline? For that you WILL need to have a live connection. Even if YAC would acquire the option you want, it won't ever work if you're offline...

If you actually want to use it in offline mode too, there's no other way than syncing your library to the Surface tablet.

Something like SyncFolders might be useful then.

BTW the Android app can now be used for this on Windows 11 using the android subsystem, the app is available in the Amazon App Store

Unfortunately only applicable if your CPU is sufficiently new which means it's not an option for making an older Surface Go tablet still useful
