macOS Navigation Shortcuts

Mogan Version

v1.2.9.7

Operating System Version and Architecture

macOS Sequoia 15.2

Describe Bug

Hey,

I really enjoy the improvements in Mogan over standard TeXmacs.

However, what makes it barely usable for me is the uncommon use of macOS navigation shortcuts.

System-wide and in every app the navigation shortcuts behave the same:

  • Option + Left / Right Arrow: Moves a word
  • Cmd + Left / RIght Arrow: Moves to line start or end and so on

I've set the "Look and Feel" to macOS but the shortcuts are still off:

  • Option + Arrows does nothing for navigation (i think option is a TeXmacs modifier used somewhere else)
  • Command + Arrows moves a word instead of the whole line

In standard TeXmacs the navigation shortcuts are working as expected.

Is this a wanted behavior? If it is the case, I suggest overthinking it as these navigation shortcuts are muscle memory for most mac users.

Thanks in advance, Heiner

Expected Behavior

See bug description. Sorry for not splitting it up.

Hey, do you have any opinion on this? Is it possible to change these shortcuts as a user?

Thanks :)

I also ran into this issue and ended up writing my own plugin. It might work for you as well. https://github.com/JimZhouZZY/mogan-texmacs-plugin-macos-nav.git

Looks like this behavior is introduced on purpose 433b702.

But I'd be happier if Mogan can support the original macOS-styled cursor movement.
