Reference numbers not on a chronogical order

Hi, I'm using your template to set up my thesis. However, I am facing one problem. Reference numbers inside the document do not appear in chronological order. Instead of starting with, let's say, [1], [2], [3],......, it starts with [6], [7]... in chapter 1, but in chapter 2, reference [1] appears. How can I solve this so that [1] appears first before other reference numbers inside the content of the thesis?
