Pynq 2.7 for ZCU208

Open sirjansel0t opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

According to the release notes for pynq 2.7 it supports rf data converters and clocks for the gen3. Does pynq 2.7 support the zcu208 or any other gen 3 eval board? Will you guys release an image?

Has there been any progress made on getting PYNQ running on the ZCU208?

PYNQ support for the ZCU208 is not currently plan of record but it is being reviewed. If would be helpful to gather any use cases that would you can offer to make the case for doing th port. FYI there is a 3rd-party port of PYNQ for the ZCU216 here: https://github.com/sarafs1926/ZCU216-PYNQ

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your reply. Here are our reasons for using the ZCU208 versus the ZCU216. I hope these will help you decide to support a port to the ZCU208 within the PYNQ community. And thank you for the link to the publicly available ZCU216 port (I'm looking at it now).

  • We are working on an application that requires the 5.0 GSPS on the DC that the ZU48DR/ZCU208 supports (high LBand low SBand in the first Nyquist is required), and 8 ADCs are sufficient for our requirements (we don't need the 16 that are supported on the ZU49DR/ZCU216).
  • The 8 FECs are required for another family of applications that we need, which the ZU48DR/ZCU208 does support, and that the ZU49DR/ZCU216 doesn't support.

Starting from PYNQ v3.0, the ZCU208 is supported in the RFSoC-PYNQ repository. https://github.com/Xilinx/RFSoC-PYNQ/tree/master/boards/ZCU208
