RRD file is corrupt

Regardless of what RRD command I enter, RPi-Monitor's RRD files always produce an EOF error relating to ds_def, e.g.:

$ rrdtool dump soc_temp.rrd > soc_temp.xml
ERROR: reached EOF while loading header rrd->ds_def

I tried it with rrdtool v1.7.2 on Ubuntu.
