Amstrad CPC - Controls are not configured properly

Amstrad CPC The hotkey bindings simply does not work with the default settings when RetroDeck is freshly installed. Select is set to bring up the keyboard but it does nothing when the button is pressed and no other button does anything relevant to the emulator.
