How can I use FeralInteractives game mode package with retroarch on the Steam Deck?

I've installed the two dependencies for game mode using the commands:

sudo pacman -S gamemode sudo pacman -S lib32-gamemode

I added gamemoderun %command% as a launch option for retrodeck in Steam. Whenever I try to use any option in retroarch that requires game mode I receive the error: "failed to enter game mode - ensure game mode daemon is installed/running.

Does anyone know what I have to do to get it working? To the devs, could you update retrodeck to automatically configure everything needed to use game mode with Retroarch?
