In the Myst lore, it is possible to make small tweaks books after they had been written to hopefully enact change in the Age the book refers to. Is it possible for Mystcraft to represent this? For example, I create an age with blue trees, but then I decide I want red trees. Is it possible to swap the blue modifier page with a red one, changing the Age to have red trees, without changing the already generated terrain of the Age?
I also find myself rewriting the same Age over and over again with slight changes to try and get an Age that I like. I know that this experimentation is a part of gameplay, but for me, it entails a bunch of mundane organizational work of grabbing 60 or more pages and trying to order them as I had before with. It would fall in line with Myst lore to allow me to make drastic changes to the same book, effectively linking to a new Age, so that I can experiment without spending more than half my time moving pages around in inventory. For example- I don't like the biome controller I selected, so I remove the biome controller from the book and replace it with a new one, generating a new Age with the same parameters I had specified before but with the new biome controller.
Thoughts?
Book rewriting is one of the big features I've wanted to do for Mystcraft, have thought a lot about how to actually accomplish, and have never had the time to implement fully. I have designs for how to handle it, but it's not high on the priority list right now. I want some other things in place first.
Thanks for the suggestion! :)
@XCompWiz the only logical way it could work is you would forcefully regenerate the world which would remove everything that already exists there.
