[Question] What is your plan on providing icons for apps ?

For example, in Aegis we have to download a .zip file of icons and in authenticator pro, one can request icons and dev. updates it in subsequent releases (no need for seperate zip file)

How are you planning to provide icons ? A file or inbuilt function ? i.e : icon for github, one can search or when we type github in issuer field it automatically adds github icon..

I could make a separate apk containing the icons for various apps and just provide that apk alongside Mauth. Users could choose the icon from Mauth via the additional apk if they have it installed

Nice idea, but doesn't it require to release 2 apks ? One of mauth and other of icons, obtainium might not be able to recognize mauth apk then, as there will be 2 apks. Also fdroid release will require another app release apart from mauth if someone uses fdroid build (Not sure about fdroid things though)

Yeah, it was just an idea. Will see what I can do.

How about the method Authy utilizes? Upon adding an account you can opt for a default generic icon or you can choose to search for an image right within the app UI. Despite its character input limit, it does phenomenally well pulling images from the web and I believe the search features a hidden quality filter as most of the junk that would not resemble or qualify as an icon or logo are often omitted. It's seriously the one design feature that has set my way with Authy, with multi device registration a serious secondary feature that some authenticator apps out there just plainly lack having.
