distortion from audacity

A weird distortion occurs in the following situation.

  • Set EMU to 192kHz
  • Open audacity and set project rate to 192k and select EMU for in and out
  • Sample some sound
  • Play back the sound to confirm it's ok
  • Switch audacity project rate to 96kHz (but don't switch the EMU)
  • play back the sound. It now sounds distorted
