BetterDisplay Event Controller Not Working

Open bloomkd46 opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug Lately, the BetterDisplay Event Controller has stopped working. MediaMate is still reporting brightness levels for the built-in displays, but not any external displays. I also noticed that the status on the event controller page is flickering back and forth between Running and Not Running. I think this happened recently after updating MediaMate and BetterDisplay, but I did the updates around the same time so I’m not sure which update caused this.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to General>Event Controller Mode
  2. Scroll down to Better Display is Running/Not Running
  3. See the video below to see how it’s flickering
  4. Notice that brightness adjustments aren’t shown for external displays

Expected behavior The status should always show Better Display is Running and brightness changes on external displays should be reported

Please complete the following information:

  • OS: Sonoma 14.5
  • Device: M2 Max MacBook Pro
  • MediaMate Version: 3.6.1 build 283
  • BetterDisplay Version: 3.0.5 build 33816

Thanks For Making Such an Awesome App!

Hi,

Could you check if the issue goes away if you're using a less recent version of BetterDisplay?

I just tried downgrading to BetterDisplay version 2.3.8 (the version I had prior to my last update) and MediaMate is working again. Do you want to try to figure out what API changed or should I open an issue with BetterDisplay?
