Can't "star" PDF pages using extension icon menu / sidebar: "Memex error: starring page / t.getFullText is not a function"

When I try to "star" (heart) a PDF that I have open in a tab, using the extension-icon menu or the sidebar, I get the following error:

It works just fine if I do it from the dashboard.
