Tags standardization and solve incorrect saved tags on Marketing blog

Open nalininsbs opened this issue 3 years ago • 8 comments

Task: Working through this and reviewing documentation produced in 2021. Thank you @abhansnuk for producing the original documentation and pulling together feedback from testing in the team in 2021.

How to add tags on the Make WordPress Marketing Blog (also known as the Marketing P2): Tags can be added directly in the post in the CMS or through Quick Edit if the post is published and tags need amending/ updating.

  1. Check if the tag already exists and you can click on this if there is one which matches. Please note there are some incorrect spelled tags in the system and there is a card raised on how these can be deleted to avoid re-use by accident.

  2. Separate tags with a comma.

  3. Add a hyphen between two words of the same tag, eg Marketing-Team

  4. Do not add tags to the bottom of the post in addition to the tags field. With the exception of a hashtag for a campaign that is not loading correctly when used in the tag.

Below is a list of standardization of tags to use for particular areas. As new areas develop in the team or the project, please add to this tag list, after checking if there is any standardization being used in other teams to make it easier for contributors to find materials across the project.

For editors:

  • If you are updating tags, you can do this in the same way as above.
  • Click on 'update' once the tags have been updated.

Reviewing the outcome of the tags review for internal marketing team and to be more in harmony with other teams. For Notes: Marketing-Team Meeting-Notes If wider than the team and for significant marketing aspects for wider awareness, use 'Marketing'

For agendas: Agenda Marketing-Team

For social media related posts social-media

For releases:

  • use the release number where the post is focused on a particular release
  • testing use of 'WPReleases': mixed feedback on usefulness. The release version was found to be more useful. Suggestion of using 'Releases' as a generic tag
