Food Banks Mississauga is a charitable organization in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, dedicated to providing food support to those in need with a vision of a Mississauga where everyone is food secure. The objective of the new website was to improve user experience for donating funds and finding food, simplify navigation and user journeys, and increase accessibility.
Reason for Submission
"Our execution process begins with reviewing analytics for the existing website for the past year of website traffic to understand traffic sources, entry pages, and exit pages to understand trends and improve them. In addition to these areas, we will also focus on time on site/page, browsers, geography, time of day, audiences, errors, goal conversions, acquisition paths, treemaps and other key performance indicators.
Once that was completed, we worked with the Food Banks Mississauga team to thoroughly understand their organization, goals, customers' expectations and behaviours, and how their website should respond to different user journeys. We then produce an Information Architecture (IA) document, which includes a sitemap and user flow, design strategy and content outline for every page. The IA is a compilation of the company’s information and user journeys, laid out logically for their user, to ensure an optimal user experience and conversion ratio.
Armed with an approved IA, we work on designing a unique and goal-focused homepage. Following the approval of the homepage design, we continue with interior layout designs to focus our attention on promoting the user experience and conversion objectives for each page.
Our next execution step is developing a custom WordPress theme using WordPress best practices to create a professional and easy-to-manage website through Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
After several rounds of quality assurance and testing, we trained the Food Banks Mississauga team to manage and use their new website, and the final push of content entry began.
Fast forward two months after the launch of their new website, and we have gotten great feedback from the Food Banks Mississauga team and their users that they love the new website and it's much easier to find information, place donations, and find food and support. We also checked our analytics 60 days after the website launch and saw a 28.57% increase in Pages per Session, a drop in Bounce Rate of 8.81% and the Average Session Duration increase by 63%!"
