Make it possible to award points for post content length
What we'd need for this is basically a data "attributes" API as part of the data types API, where each data type could have different characteristics. For example, the text data type would have the word count and character count attributes, which could be used for this. The value of each characteristic would be declared as being a of a particular data type, so this would reuse the existing data types API to provide the type-hinting needed for conditions within the hooks API.

Hei JD... Wondering if you are working on the Wordpoints plugin? Or if it has been overshadowded by other projects? I have a very good idea for a site that MANY creative people would really use and I need your super duper plugin but with a couple of added features. Its actually a site for community of writers of all levels and genres... The point system makes them engage with each other and help each other while imroving themselves... There was a site called Urbis in the passed but the a-hole owner totally disbanded it one day without a word to us... So i believe all these groups of writers on facebook would LOVE a new Urbis... I did suggest the features to you in the feature requests in Trello. I could mobilize a few writer communities to sign up to trello and boost the requests but I dont want to bother people if you are not active on the project. Hope you answer :) Peace and keep up the great work... ps. Are you actually a photographer? Best regards, Levent
Hey @JackBodiless, thanks for the inquiry. I've not been actively working on WordPoints recently, because I've been too busy with other things. However, rest assured that it isn't abandoned, I'm just still working out how to juggle it or find somebody else to help push it forward. That said, I honestly can't promise that any feature requests will be addressed in the near future, except possibly in cases where someone steps forward to pay for my time to develop a feature.
Yes, I have done photography as well, although I make my living as a web developer.
Best regards.
Hei JD, thanks for your answer…
I thought as much. This would be a hobby website i would make so i dont want to spend much money on it but can you give me a ballpark figure i can relate to? The functions i need are the;
Unlock content with points (Allow a post or page (or custom content type) to be locked to users unless they pay a certain number of points. Perhaps also just a portion of the content could be locked, using a shortcode) & Award points based on post length (Award based on the length of the post, calculated via number of words. Possibly we could also give the option to award based on the number of characters also. This would also work for comments, or any other text field related to an event. - (My comment - Hopefully with flaging to let known to admin if a user is just copy pasting or making unnecessary repetitions etc to get more) points...)
And if i did hire you to fix these features, would you be following and updating the plugin to keep up with wordpress updates etc or would i have to pay for that?
Best Regards, Levent
