Polishing accuracy of emulators

Open Wohlstand opened this issue 6 years ago • 2 comments

There are some issues related to OPL3 chip emulators

Opal, an emulator by RAD team

  • [x] Wrong KSL causes different sounding of all instruments
  • [x] Inaccurate sounding of 4op instruments
  • [ ] Absence of rhythm-mode percussions, the sound is silent
  • [x] Can't play Corridor7 IMF songs, plays silent instruments, but some percussions are can be heard
  • [x] Some drums like this (BassDrumMine.opli.zip) are played a bit "heavier" than on other emulators
  • [ ] Missing notes while playing this doofus-title.imf.gz (Possibly because of rhythm-mode lack. This IMF, looks like one of very rare thing that does use of Rhythm-mode)

JavaOPL3, an emulator from GZDoom, re-written in C++ from Java

  • [ ] 4op instruments sounding with 2x smaller volume, 2op sounding fine
  • [ ] Rhythm-mode percussions are messy, but working
  • [x] Weird sounding of some ride cymbals in Corridor7 IMF songs
  • [ ] Weird kick drum sounding Age Of Empire - Wally.tar.gz
  • [ ] Some drums sounding broken doofus-title.imf.gz (Possibly because of rhythm-mode use)

DosBox OPL3

  • [ ] Can't play Corridor7 IMF songs, plays silent instruments, but some percussions can be heard
