Feature Request: Snapshot Compare

I'm copying large amount of files to another computer that not in the local network. As moving all the data isn't feasible (I don't have a big enough HDD), I wish WinMerge can generate a snapshot file containing the folder structure and file signatures which I can load it to another machine's WinMerge to determine the difference between hosts, and select sub-folders that need copy.

Basically a snapshot feature. BeyondCompare has such a function. I would require this not for comparing two PCs, but a historical version of a folder - saved in a snapshot file.

I am having this problem as well. Everything I have tried has failed. It does not seem as if this is a regular use case, as I could not find a utility that does this yet. It would be great to have this feature.

I can see this being very useful. As data gets larger, comparing it isn't always practicable, but comparing signatures is a good way to address the issue.
