Installer Error

When installing "WinMerge-2.16.50.2-x64-Setup.exe" having 2.16.50 already installed I am receiving this error.

C:\Program Files\WinMerge\Contributors.txt

The existing file is newer than the one Setup is trying to install. It is recommended that you keep the existing file.

Thank you for the report. You are right — I hadn’t noticed that. The message box appears because the timestamp of Contributors.txt in 2.16.50.2 is older, even though its contents are identical to 2.16.50. This happened because 2.16.50.2 was built on a different PC than usual, which resulted in an older timestamp. There is no real difference in the file, so whether you click Yes or No does not matter. You can safely proceed with either choice to complete the installation.
