The main menu under Wine after PR 2400
Xubuntu 24.04 (and X11 session), Wine 9.22.
I have to say that I don't think that this is a very big problem (I didn't even notice right away), but maybe it can be fixed without significant effort?
Although the wine versions are different as shown below, the text in the menu bar was displayed when run on macOS. If I have the opportunity, I will try it with the latest wine version.
wine --version
wine-8.0.1 (CrossOverFOSS 23.7.1)
@sdottaka, WinMerge x32?
I'm sorry, I forgot to mention this nuance, screenshot shows the x64 version. x32 looks better, but if I hover the cursor, the text of the menu item merges with the background. Do you have the same behavior?
I tried both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions, and the results were the same.

I was able to reproduce the issue where the text becomes invisible when moving the mouse over the menu.
Problem exists on Arch Linux too, using Wine 10.5:

The problem:

The last stable release in which there is no problem is this: winmerge-2.16.42.1-x64-exe.zip
I did not try pre-releases and beta/etc releases though.
32 bit release are somehow a bit different, the menu text colors alter on mouse hover and mouse click action, and stays wrong when the menu is open:
Hover:
Click:
Submenus are visible and can be activated too:

I have this issue with the latest winmerge-2.16.48.2-x64 (portable version)
Same issue with Winmerge version 2.16.50.0 x64 (setup version), using Kegworks Winery v2.0.4, Wrapper Wineskin-3.1.8, engine WS12WineCX24.0.7_3
Still there, in v2.16.52.2 :(
