Diff pane appears not to work

For me, the diff pane always shows 4 empty lines twice:

The Diff pane is not synchronized with caret movement. Clicking icons such as "Next Difference" in the toolbar of the image below will display the current differences in the Diff pane.

If you got used to that this is a real stumble stone. Please consider changing this.
