"You are about to compare very large files" is not satisfied with any amount of memory

Comparison: image

(of which, all I really want is a "sideways" comparison of the file vs a file in the archive)

"is not satisfied with this memory": image

What results did you get after all? Did WinMerge crash or hang?

Can't you just extract the archive files and compare the extracted folders?

No meaningful result. "Yes" says "files are different" - "No" returns, very controllably: image

Weeeeeell yeah, but since I've found WinMerge's "non-parallel" comparison, I kinda love it

I tried to reproduce it, but I was able to compare without error as follows. (However, it does not give very meaningful results) Was the .iso file being used by another application when this error occurred?

It is recommended to decompress with 7-zip etc. and compare folders instead of comparing as files as shown below.

No, it wasn't

... but also, WinMerge fails to recognize a ZLIB/SquashFS 4.0 archive 😕

Yeah - I was hoping for that to happen, automatically. WinMerge's recent improvements pampered me to expect maybe too much 😅
