Is there a way to support archives (-z flag)?

In ag.el I can C-u on a search that gives me the command line to edit and I can manually add -z. I kind of feel it should be the default flag anyway, it's very nice to just automatically go through .gz-ed source files. Or let me somewhere configure it as always present flag.
