Create "Basics: Navigating the dashboard" and "Navigating the dashboard" Video guide in Training module & Documentation respectively
What is happening?
The "Navigating the Dashboard" step has no video guide on the training module (Using the dashboard) and on the documentation site (Navigating the dashboard). The documentation also needs a slight update to coordinate with the present UI of the dashboard.
To Reproduce
- Go to Programs and Events Documentation/Using the Dashboard
- Scroll down to the "Navigating the dashboard" subtitle under the "Basics" heading.
(It can also be located on another page)
- Go to Programs and Events Dashboard
- Click on "Training"
- Scroll down to "Learning and Evaluation"
- Click on "Using the dashboard"
- Click on "Start"
- Then navigate to "Next Page" and you will be on the "Basics: Navigating the dashboard" page.
Expected behavior
The steps in the training module "Using the dashboard" and the subtitle "Navigating the dashboard" on the documentation page need a video guide. The previous step "Basics: Logging in" in the training module, "Using the dashboard" and the "Logging in" step under "Basics" in the documentation, has a video guide for logging into the dashboard. Also, the UI in the screenshot and the documentation represented on both pages, are outdated. The image shows an "Explore" tab beside "My Dashboard", whereas that tab is now called the "Find Programs" tab.

Hi @ragesoss and @Aminehassou I came up with a video guide for navigating through the dashboard and finding out some more information about campaigns, this can help a user decide what campaigns to be a part of. I'd like to know your feedback.

I think the link you shared is set to private, I'm getting an "access denied" error when trying to access the video.
Hi @Aminehassou sorry about that, I've made it public now.

Do you have a script? My overall feedback initially would be to try to tighten up the content to jump right into the main topic of the video. I think we want each video that's part of the documentation to be pretty much independent, rather than explicitly referencing other videos.
For the video, it would be nice to get rid of the controls that are in the lower left.
@ragesoss Yes I created a script for the video guide.
Noted, thank you. I'll recreate it with your pointers in mind.
Hi @ragesoss I've recreated the video with your pointers in mind and I'll like your feedback.

This is on my todo list, I'll likely provide some feedback tomorrow.
@ragesoss thank you so much, I look forward to it.
Just watched the video @Ibom99 it is really nice, easy to understand and helpful! Welldone 👏
This is an excellent starting point. The mouse highlighting throughout is very helpful.
There's a lot of inconsistency in the audio, especially in terms of volume, but the narration is very clear and understandable.
I think the script could be tightened up; it should be as concise as possible.
In terms of how the content is organized and presented, I think it would be useful to provide an outline (both via narration and text) at the beginning to clearly what will be covered in this video, with a mention of what will not be covered (in particular, navigating through the tabs and features of an individual program).
It should probably begin by logging in, to demonstrate that some of the features (My Dashboard in particular) are specific to a logged in user.
The part about ORES is a good reminder for me that it's time to change the name and explanation for that tab, as the ORES service is being removed... but the same data is still available, from a service with a different name.
Do you have a script for it? I'd suggest updating the script, then getting feedback on that before attempting another video recording.
Hello, @Ibom99! I'm curious, which software do you use for recording and editing? the mouse highlighting is cool. For your audio, I'm not sure if you're using your computer's built-in microphone, but I recently purchased a pair of this kind of wireless mics, and they are affordable and can significantly enhance your audio quality. They are common and I believe you can find them at your local electronics store.
Hi @larrytamnjong thanks for that, I'll definitely give them a shot.
@ragesoss Thank you so much for the detailed pointers, I'll definitely include them. To clarify, I'll be omitting the part about navigating the sub-navigation tabs for individual programs (i.e.: home, programs, articles, editors, ORES, alerts, etc....)?
Yes, I have a script, I'll update it right away and send it back for feedback.
Hi @ragesoss I've updated my script with your pointers in mind, and I'll love your feedback, here
@Ibom99 nice update! I think the script format is good, and I see you've incorporated my suggestions above. I think we will need a better way of sharing and editing the script than linking PDFs. Maybe you can share it as a Google Doc, so that it's easier to add comments about specific wording and make incremental edits? Another option would be to put the script on a wiki page on Meta, but that might be little more cumbersome to set up initially. Either way is fine with me (or another method, if you have something else in mind).
Hi @ragesoss thank you so much for your feedback! Yes, Google Docs works, I have added your email as an editor to access the Google Docs file, here. I look forward to your review.
Hi @ragesoss I have updated my script with your pointers and I'd like your review, please.
