[Feature] Keep pattern active when changing files

What feature would you like to see?

I would like to be able to keep the pattern I'm working on when changing files. This might already be possible but I don't know how to activate it.

How will this feature be useful to you and others?

It's useful when working on decoding communication protocols. I want to be able to load in different captures and check that my pattern works on all of them.
