Native monitoring support

My home is my "monitored" castle. I currently monitor all my devices using ICINGA2 with ping and some tcp voodoo.

What about integrating the NRPE or similar protocol and bind the command set directly to the MQTT? So you can monitor the devices with Nagios or Icinga, using native NRPE and getting status information via NRPE and the native MQTT commands, which the firmware already supports.

Wouldn't it be better to write MQTT plugin for Icinga2 (online/offline status)? No need to update ESP and you support whole range of devices which are using MQTT and then monitoring info to mqtt status.
