Audio not working but when headphones connected, audio comes from internal speakers on LMDE on a Asus chromebook C204

No audio input or output on LMDE but when i connect headphones via audio jack, audio come out from internal speakers, not headphones. also no audio input either. very strange issue

update: when I installed base debian 12.9, the same issue occurs. previously, when i had an older version of debian on the same chromebook, no issues and it worked great.

Please try debian 13 or the latest release of your distro.
