No audio through headphone jack on Samsung Chromebook Pro

Open eldjee opened this issue 1 year ago • 8 comments

Describe the bug After running the audio script on a fresh Fedora 40 install there is no sound through headphones. Sound works through in-built speakers and through the usbc. Headphones are detected and the output switches to them when they are plugged in.

Boardname Caroline

Logs Logs generated while headphones plugged in: debug-logs.tar.gz

I believe I'm having the same issue. PopOS 22.04 on Samsung Chromebook Pro with Caroline board Originally had only Dummy Output from speakers. Ran this script which fixed the issue and I had audio from the speakers Connected wired headphones and only got static out of the headphones. Unplugged headphones and no audio from speakers and when adjusting audio, it only shows Dummy Output again Re-ran this script with no change. USB-C headphone adapter works as expected. If Wired headphones through the built-in jack don't work, that is fine, I can plug it so I don't try it again, but now that speakers don't work and are back to only Dummy Output is puzzling. I'm about to reinstall PopOS unless there is another way to undo what the script did originally so I can apply it again.

Something interesting is that if I reboot it with headphones it shows headphones but I still don’t have audio and we I unplug the headphones it still shows headphones so I don’t know.

In my case, I reinstalled PopOS 22.04 from scratch and ran the install script and rebooted and still only Dummy Output and no audio.

I then ran the script again, installed all of the available updates, and then did a full power off and power off (instead of reboot) and then audio started working..

I'm just going to tape over the headphone jack and not deal with it

And did you try a USB-C to audio jack converter

git clone https://github.com/WeirdTreeThing/chromebook-linux-audio cd chromebook-linux-audio ./setup-audio --branch avs_nau8825
