Get information from tv

Hi i would like to use the library to get information from the TV, rather than sending commands to it. For example i want to know it's player state (for example when playing netflix). I already figured out how to get the volume state, but that's it. Right now i would settle for play/pause/stop, because my goal is to control my lights whenever something is playing or not. It is possible?
