Problems with Flash timing

Hi, Thanks for this great piece of software! I have some issues with the flash timing...the flash seems to be way too fast, so it doesnt finish taking the picture while the document is lit up by the flash. Is there any way to play with the timing, or even better, just have the flashlight turn on and stay on while in picture taking mode? (I actually prefer the flashlight turning on option)
