[Aura Organization] Tag System

A system where every aura gets one (main) tag as an attribute (like url) and the interface has a new mode to sort by that. this would be a toggle that switches between loaded/not loaded categories and grouping by those tags.

Ah, there’s an idea This is true, there’s 2 notions of group here 1 is a parent aura which has children that inherit some properties

The other is as just a collection of auras which are categorized together

in my mind, you would switch between grouping by loaded/unloaded and grouping by tag, tag would ignore load state and maybe display that as an icon yes but I think categories would already be enough to make most people happy

If we would do that, then it should be possible to add multiple tags onto one aura Frankly just mimicking wago (for preset categories, along with the ability to write custom tags) would make many people happy I think Also search by tag

What do you think about that

• add a "Filter" button on top, when clicked open a menu with a list/sublist of predefined tags
• these tags can have an associated color and/or icon
• custom submenu has options for add/delete/edit
• when you click on a tag, the view is filtered and it add a label / icon next to the button
• right click menu on auras buttons let's you toggle tags
• left click on an aura's tag add it to current filters
• [good or bad ?] right click on an aura's tag remove the tag
• [good or bad ?] predefined tags are automatic from load conditions or meta data, they can't be added/removed
• [good or bad ?] only custom tags can be added/removed
• if there is a tag filter, display ignores loaded/not loaded
• groups can't have tags themselves but they show tags of their children (like the wago update group icon)
• [good or bad?] in filtered view, auras are flattened (no group), drag'n'drop and move is disable

Context menu should include an option to add/edit/delete tags

Bonus points if I can select multiple tags to filter.

Right click on its own is too easy to do unintentionally, for it to be a delete action.

Load conditions aren’t a super great source of tags imo. There is some overlap, but not enough.

Export all auras with a given tag(s) 🙏

Shunting all user-defined tags into their own category isn’t the best, imo. But maybe that can be iterated upon when the feature is implemented and we have more feedback.

I was suggesting a folder system in the WA-discussion thread on discord, and was sent here. note: i was not suggesting groups within groups (i know that doesn't work). Just a folder system as a way to organize the WAs in the menu on the left side when you open WAs.

In terms of solving the problem that is organizing hundreds of WAs you could either go with the tag system or a folder system. I would prefer a folder system, though i suspect it's harder to implement (with my extremely limited programming knowledge). That said i would prefer a folder system over a tag system, but if you implement either it will be amazing.

One last thing. Regardless of what system you go with i hope you make it possible to assign multiple tags (for example 'Raid', and 'BoD') or allow folders in folders to allow a 'Raid' folder with 'BoD' and 'Uldir' as child folders. Thanks for making WAs. It's amazing.

Hey, everyone. Is there any plans to still release this feature some time? I see it's gotten removed from the Soon™ milestone earlier this year, so I was wondering.. With Shadowlands on the horizon I've gotten so many WeakAuras that sorting them in any way (be it folders or tags) would be such a relief.

not sure if this falls into the nested category

e.g creating a new tag adds it as a sub category of loaded + not loaded and then you can assign WAs to it via right clicking them.

Well, soon never happened. I don't think it'll come soonish, it's something that no one is currently working on.

I wish this was more prioritized. I think it's the most important feature that is yet to be implemented.

I whole-heartedly agree with that. I know a LOT of people who wish they could organize their hundreds of Auras in a better way than just alphabetically.
