Too many icons blank, icon-mapping option has no effect
Many icons show up as blank when using wf-shell, Namely:
- network bar icon
- Apostrophe
- Nemo
- Spotify
- imv
- footclient
- Joplin
- Armcord
Also, the icon-mapping option from wf-shell has no effect.
System description:
- NixOS Unstable branch
- My system config
- dotfiles (Wayfire config)
it is strange but have same effect for mate-panel tasklist. Also no idea why this happens.
Maybe it has something to do with the theme?
Well - changing icon theme do some change - the common icon of unknown file type changes when I change theme. But I test it on mate-panel and there is also bug about this. And strange thing - sometimes it starts working well. Sometimes stops. I am on gentoo so the rolling versions of everything and I could not figure out which update made the difference. The strange thing that it also happened with wf-panel - I was thinking this is a mate bug. But looks like the root of it is somewhere in gtk.
I've tried with several icon packs and most of these are missing. The best I could do was have the full cinnamon desktop installed at the same time but it's overkill just to have working icons. Also, has any of you used the icon-mapping feature? I have not been able to make it work with anything.
I'm also seeing a ton of blank icons (I'm on NixOS, if that makes a difference). I did some looking into it and it looks like there is no issue locating icons, but wf-shell has issues when it cannot find an icon of the correct size or if the only icon available is an SVG. For example, Librewolf's icon appears just fine to me, and it has a 64x64 icon. However, Alacritty, which only has an SVG icon, does not have an icon appear in the menu. But, it looks like some people in #130 reported SVG icons working fine, so I'm pretty clueless as to what is causing the issue.
If anyone else wants to look on their system and try to piece together a pattern, make sure to take a look at this.
