Setup freezes on G3 Beige.
I managed to get through the first part of text setup, the second phase froze up.
This is a crash during NT memory management init, so would imply some kind of RAM issue.
I can see if reverting the ram back to stock will work. It has 416MB right now. Occasionally, It will boot. Only one time it did.
Unfortunately, no dice.
I guess it could be some cuda-related issue if by "first part of text setup" you mean "setupldr".
It crashes after first completing the setup after setupldr and shows the bootscreen. The screen after where you configure drivers and before the hard disks.
What kind of issue with the CUDA is it?
I also tried imaging the drive from my WallStreet to the beige G3 and I got the same crash. This is after a full install.
I think I found a fix. Hold down Command+Option+O+F, type init-nvram, then shut-down, then turn the system back on and start NT.
@JannGold Was init-nvram enough, or was limiting RAM and moving the installation from another machine still required?
I found out that you need to install it on a Wallstreet or PDQ first. Then you need to start NT. It may not work on the first try. If it doesn’t, reboot. It takes several tries. I haven’t tried installing just using the beige G3.
