Unable to continue past ‘Setup could not determine the type of one or more mass storage devices installed in your system’ (Wii)

My keyboard just freezes up, and I can’t press anything.

It’s probably just me using a generic no-name usb keyboard, but is this a common issue?

It may be possible that it's because your keyboard is cheap. I also have cheap mice (2 wireless and 1 wired), and none work so I'm forced to "borrow" my sister's mouse and kb whenever I boot Windows NT.

the mouse I'm using is definitely a cheap mouse, the right mouse button is broken and the cable is frayed in places, I do use a powered hub though.

Did you check the USB descriptors of the working mouse I sent under the other issue? I installed cIOS in my Wii 4 years ago with the d2x installer (iirc, in slots 248 and 249), does that affect USB functionality?

That should not matter, IOS58 and USBv5 is used under NT.
