Can't find gapps

Open elijahr2411 opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Hello,

I followed all of the instructions exactly, with no error messages. I can now open WSA Settings, and WSA seems to be working fine.

However, I cannot find any of the installed google apps. I have repeated the install multiple times, uninstalling WSA each time beforehand. I just can't find any google apps. It's as if they were never installed.

I'm not sure what information to give in this situation, but feel free to ask for any info and I'll provide it.

Thanks!

Tip: Uninstalling and reinstalling from the same WSA directory is the same as removing and re-adding WSA again. You'll need to build WSAGA again to correctly re-install WSA.

Only a few stock Google apps (Camera etc) are installed (because you used Gapps nano) it simply means that support for Google Apps is there and you can install other Google Apps like Google Search, YouTube, G Maps from apks downloaded from a site like uptodown or apkpure.

I seem to be having the same issue as @elijahr2411 I followed all the instructions exactly, and also attempted to swap out the SLOW ring version of the package for the RP version (though they seem to be identical).

The Windows Subsystem for Android settings app is available, but there is no Play Store (or any other android apps I can find).

Probably related: I am not based in the US (so it's not technically rolled out to me yet) and I don't technically have a supported processor. Possibly related: I also got issue #112 and followed this comment to get around it

Update: I did manage to get it to work by following this link to view the Amazon Appstore in the Microsoft Store, which had the link to open it. Opening it started WSA and then Google Play, etc were available on my start menu. It's possible this could also have been triggered by changing the Subsystem resources setting to "Continuous" in the WSA settings app, or some other trigger for starting WSA after the installation.
