avicchiollo, did you just update your NESSUS engine to Nessus 8.1? This happened to us when going from NESSUS 7.1.2 to NESSUS 8.1. Nessus updated the application due to a database issue with 7.1.2 and before releases. Possible Tenable has changed the DB structure to make the .nessus files imcompatible with Vulnerator 6.1.9. Waiting for the solution.

avicchiollo, I don't know if I passed on, but we're working fine with Nessus 8.1.x and now moving to Nessus 8.2.2. Vulnerator 6.1.9 works fine with those .NESSUS files.

I am having this same issue and came across this question. I am on Vul 6.1.9 and Nessus 8.4.0 and receiving this error. Any fix action? All I saw was that it was currently working for the member.

Ours was extraneous symbols in the name of the file. When we renamed the .nessus file without the extraneous symbols (just a straight letter or number file name), that cleared it up.

All, I am going to leave this open for now just in case it pops up again, but I am going to label it as "On Hold" for now. If the problem appears to be resolved in a week or two, I will close it as "Not Vulnerator".

I had also realized that I had not changed my Nessus file to the actual .Nessus. I was saving the Nessus file but windows was turning it into a txt. I had to manually go in and remove the .txt and make it into a .nessus. Sorry if you’ve already done this. 😖 Just trying time help. Also, I’m on 8.4 Nessus. Was told by previous user on this form to not upgrade unless tested first because it doesn’t work with Vulnerator very nicely.

All, Right, the big thing I found on these types of errors is the actual file name of the .nessus file. Our script was putting in extraneous symbols causing Vulnerator to error out. The .nessus file needs to be pretty vanilla to work.

FYI, we have since upgraded to Nessus 8.6 and changed one parameter in the advanced settings. Settings, Advanced Settings, Performance, and change “xml enable plugin attributes” to yes or enabled. You want it to do this to be able for Vulnerator to read the newer xml files properly. Hope this helps.
