sometimes elan trackpad "slow down"
Hi, I'm using this kext since day 1 and it works flawlessly. but even since there's a little problem I can't figure it out:
sometimes the trackpad slow down and the cursor is more like "smooth and delayed" than "precise". This lasts few seconds ~30 and then everything goes back to normal.
This happened in Catalina + clover and in current Big Sur + OC.
Any idea on what might be going on? Tried to disable several kext without success.
Also, seems happening more when plugging the thinkpad to charge it.
ps. using a Thinkpad T480s
maybe @leo-labs can help there
That is very interesting. I myself still use Clover + Mojave and do not have this problem.
@1Revenger1 Have you ever seen similar issues?
Hi, I’m using it with OC + Big Sur without having any issue. ( T480s)

No I have not. I have seen cases where VoodooInput can have issues due to ACPIBatteryManager since it'll check the battery status every time it checks status, and that can have a sleep within the _STA acpi method. I'm not sure if something like that would effect VoodooSMBus though since it doesn't use VoodooInput.
My guess is that it's something funky with timing/scheduling but I wouldn't even know where to start to figure out what the issue is.
I never opened an issue 'cause I wanted to be more helpful in the debugging process but it's so random that I have not found any pattern.
I'll try to be more precise if I notice something. Do you guys (I know it's seems awkward) that a 45W charger instead 65W can cause this issue?
