Perhaps this is not directly related, but I would really like to be able to drag with no border and no gaps (so the draggable area slightly overlaps the windows)
The things you suggested didn't really seem to change much for me, although I might not have done it entirely correctly as I'm somewhat new to Emacs.
Pasta is indeed a lot faster than slirp4netns, but from my experience slightly unstable (but that might improve in the future) and still slower than "native" performance (which socket activation...
