Sneaking on block edges breaks down at scales of <0.001

When sneaking on the edge of a block at scales less than 0.001, the player sometimes falls off when releasing the movement keys, even if the shift key is still held down. It seems to happen more reliably at block corners, but becomes more frequent at smaller scales.
