non-advanced games
I can't edit weapons or systems in non-advanced games. please help me with/fix that.
Did you encounter any error messages? If so, could you supply the log file. Or did the interface just didn't respond?

ALL savedgames created by FTL 1.5.4-1.5.13 are "advanced edition" savedgames. Toggling AE content (new ships/weapons/races/etc) will not create the old file format. All that does is prevent you from encountering those things in-game.
Only savedgames created by FTL 1.01-1.03.3 (versions before advanced edition was released) are fully editable.
The new file format has not been fully reverse-engineered, so some areas are no longer understood well enough to edit. What you can do at the moment is edit cargo to include weapons you'd like, then equip them when you resume the game.
awwwwwwwww maaaaannnn ok thanks anyways

Could the editor detect this and alert/block the user, possibly disabling some of the fields?
