Bug description
There is a bug that causes you to show the duplicate of an app icon on taskbar when you have the app pinned there. It's also possible to make the app window open, but without any app button active on taskbar
Steps to reproduce
To get duplicate
- Pin the icon to the taskbar.
- Open the app from taskbar.
- Close it ("Close window to tray instead of quitting" has to be checked in settings)
- Open the app again from taskbar, there will be a duplicate icon created.
To get no active window on taskbar
- Pin the icon to the taskbar.
- Open the app from taskbar.
- Close it ("Close window to tray instead of quitting" has to be checked in settings)
- Open the app from tray. Window will open but no active tab will be shown on the taskbar

been trying to reproduce both issues, no luck. probably due the fact that im patching windows 11 taskbar to the appearance of windows 10 taskbar with ExplorerPatcher
Maybe. It's worth to mention that I'm also in Windows 11 insider's build and you are prob. on stable. And I'm not overwriting my taskbar with any software.
Hi, @Syhmac. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the ytmdesktop2 team manage their backlog. I'm marking this issue as stale.
Issue Summary:
- A bug was reported involving inconsistent taskbar behavior when pinning the app on Windows 10.
- @Venipa attempted to reproduce the issue but was unsuccessful, possibly due to using ExplorerPatcher.
- You mentioned using a Windows 11 insider build without taskbar modifications, which might be a factor.
Next Steps:
- Please let us know if this issue is still relevant to the latest version of the ytmdesktop2 repository by commenting here.
