AutoChange and RestoreDefault controls?

I was wondering if there is a way to control the autoChange and restoreDefault options from another module through a notification?

I have the pages auto changing but I would also like the option to change them manually when I am using the mirror however, when I change them manually I can not find a way to disable the auto change or restoreDefault so that it will stay on the page until I am done so the pages change back while I'm in the middle of using them.

It would be nice to have the option to pause or disable the autoChange via a notification and also a way to resume it. The same goes for the restoreDefault option.
