Changing the debug adapter type after opening the debugger sidebar does not work

If one wishes to select and use a different debug adapter type than the default one, it does not seem to work if one does so after opening the debugger sidebar. It works fine if the user opens the "Debug Adapter Settings" dialog before opening the debugger sidebar
