Freezing on "~Starting magical...~"

As soon as I input a link (https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/all-the-mods-2) and hit download the program freezes and wont respond to anything, it also doesn't seem to progress. I am running it on Ubuntu Gnome.

I got this as well when using the openjdk that comes with Ubuntu. Once I downloaded the Oracle jdk, it worked fine.

With deep sadness I must confirm that it works with... Oracle's version...

I get this too on macOS with only the official Java 8 (181) installed.

Because I wanted to download a Modpack with KUbuntu too and it didn't work, I took a look into the code trying to find the error. And found it, it's a deadlock in OpenJDK's awt. Filed a bug report at http://bugs.java.com/ with the id 9050560. At the time I created this post it still seems to be processing / not showing up.

BUT you can still use the downloader, as it has a cmd-line only option, if you execute it with Arguments, the first being the Link (eg. https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/age-of-engineering; without spaces!!!) and the secound being the version, or just left out if you only want the latest. (eg. java -jar cmpdl-1.1.3.jar https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/age-of-engineering)

I have the same problem of it freezing the second I hit download, but not even the cmd line works.

Guys I know this might not seem like the good solution But you can use MultiMC as it now features mod pack downloads. Cheers
