Blank screen on first boot after install - Nvidia RTX A4500

The installer boots without any problem, but when the system reboots, the screen is blank. Can't access TTYs, etc. If I can hit Esc at the right time and get the grub menu, I can add 3 to the linux line, log in, then use startx to start the UI. From there, I can complete the install, adding Nvidia drivers, among other steps. After the reboot, everything works correctly. My system has: Intel i9-13900K, 128GiB ram, Nvidia RTX A4500, 4xNVMe drives.

This problem has happened on other Ubuntu/Gnome-based installations, so not sure if I should report here, or upstream somewhere. It just would be nice if the Vanilla install managed to work around it.
