FAST is Microsoft's open-source web component support library which the Fluent design system web components are based on and can be found in use in a range of Microsoft products (Edge, Copilot, Bing, etc...) and in other places.
For this introductory talk we'll look at a how a basic FAST web component is set up (code, template, styling) and how a beginner would get started making web components for themselves. While I'll be specifically discussing FAST (as a former member of the MS FAST team I'm biased), but many of the concepts are generic (shadow dom, style isolation, etc...) and would be applicable to other WC implementations.
