Stuck in half resolution
Using URP Unity 2019.3.4f1 OpenVR XR Plugin 1.0.1 SteamVR Plugin 2.6.1 SteamVR 1.13.10
Dynamic resolution is off on cameras. Can't figure out repro steps. Full resolution is restored after restarting editor. Happens in Vive 1st Gen, Oculus Rift S, and Valve Index.
I was able to reduce the how often this happened by setting Application.targetFramerate using the headset's refresh rate. Another odd detail is that once it happens the resolution for all cameras is lowered including non-vr cameras.
Hi @jkieffer-filament - with resolution, are you referring to the mirror or the actual resolution you're getting in-hmd?
Actual resolution in the headset as well as the mirror. I found the culprit was actually the SteamVR plugin which is not getting matched focus events. The eye texture resolution scale was getting halved on unfocus but without a matching on focus event it never was returned to 1.
Was this with code changes to the plugin? Or are you finding this behavior by default?
I have found this behaviour also by default (no changes to plugin). Seems to happen at random times when going back from the Steam menu in VR. I was on SteamVR Unity Plugin 2.6.0b3, checking on 2.6.1 now.
Looks like it is still not working using Unity plugin 2.6.1. To replicate, open and close the Steam VR menu until it breaks. Once VR app is in half resolution, it is stuck until it is relaunched. Tested with Unity 2019.4.12f1 on Valve Index headset.
