After updating Arch, Steam no longer starts and used to crash without showing any windows. After removing beta file & it redownloading older version client, I'm stuck on empty window (assuming it should be the login window) I can't figure out why, nor can I find any help on the net on my particular issue so I'm coming to you folks for help.

What I tried doing: -Getting out of beta by deleting beta file -Removing steam package, .steam and .local/share/steam dirs and installing package again -Reinstalling every package I have installed on my system with pacman -S -Trying out steam-runtime-native -Trying steam --reset -Restarting -Running with -no-cef-sandbox
More notes: -This is NOT the Flatpak version -Every other application and nonsteam game works -Running KDE Plasma on x11 with Nvidia
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Updated Arch
- Attempted to launch Steam
I installed Flatpak and its Steam version (which works perfectly, but I really don't want to use any flatpaks on my system)
So copied Steam folders from flatpak ver to my install: It logs me in fine upon start and I see everything EXCLUDING store, library and anything that has to do with web, including storage manager and friendslist window.
Since I updated ArchLinux - EndeavourOS this morning, I have the same problems.
Your system information
Steam client version (build number or date): Using https://archlinux.org/packages/multilib/x86_64/steam/ with 1.0.0.76-1 and build date 2023-03-03 18:27 UTC
Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): ArchLinux - EndeavourOS
Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
Have you checked for system updates?: Yes, the issue started after I updated the whole system this morning.
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
After updating Arch, Steam no longer starts and crashes without showing any windows. The logs also didn't give me any hints, so I am at a loss here.
Terminal output: steam_error_21052023.txt
Helpful log files: webhelper.txt steamwebhelper.log cef_log.txt
I also tried @basedBSD's fix list, but to no avail.
If you need more details, please let me know!
for my fix*** to work, you would need to delete /Steam/package/beta file. Since you are in beta the whole launcher uses web interface, therefore the whole thing goes down. Try that so we see if you get close to same logs ***not really a fix, opting out of beta still leaves you with unusable Steam client.
Alright I got it running. The issue was package xdg-desktop-portal-gnome. I downgraded it 44.1-2 => 43.1-1, now it works! This is also tracked at https://bugs.gentoo.org/905265 and some hints gave me https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,4294.0.html. So this is not a steam problem, but a dependency problem.
Another comment: Since I downgraded my this package, Firefox is starting as swiftly as ever.
I have xdg-desktop-portal and xdg-desktop-portal-kde installed, but not -gnome. (I run Plasma and not Gnome) I downgraded both, restarted and issue still persists.
Effects all users of PikaOS 23.04 too including myself (head maintainer)
Still a problem on Manjaro
