DUH-DING sound still plays under certain conditions
Your system information
- Steam client version: Latest
- Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Arch
- Opted into Steam client beta?: [Yes]
- Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes]
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
The DUH-DING sound effect is the worst thing in the Steam client (with the exception of the DRM). It shouldn't appear in the client at all, anywhere under any circumstances. Steps should be taken to reduce the number of events which cause the DUH-DING sound to be played to 0 or for the sound effect to be replaced with one which isn't awful, such as silence.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Exit Steam while a cloud sync is happening so the "Finishing cloud sync" window appears
- Click okay
- Hear DUH-DING
This is not a Linux-specific issue so you might be better of reporting it on the regular Steam community boards, but I'll leave it open for now.
It is now 2020 and DUH-DING is present in the Steam client. This is the year for it to be removed.
What's wrong? it's just a freaking sound.
What's wrong? it's just a freaking sound.
It's not needed? It's annoying?
for example: you are a developer and using the steam integration thing, you find an error and duh-ding plays and you know that something is wrong.
Shouldn't be an issue any more as steam doesn't use that sound effect in the current version
Closing as outdated.
