[Feauture Request] ability to install multiple versions of one game

Open gamidov-r opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

some game have few versions for download (i mean beta update in sub-menu). beta version or old versions. when I want play in another version, different from current, I wait, when steam download another version INSTEAD currently installed. when I want switch back, I again wait new installation. why can't i install multiple versions and switch between them? so i don't have to download one version or another all the time.

You can skip the download process by using the 'backup game' option, you just have to restore the right version each time. Obviously you can also do this via console/file manager manually too.

move/backup operation via steam use long time. I think possible make some symlink method, but not user-friiendly
